More and more builders are hopping aboard the home automation train, and Lexar is no exception. In fact, the custom homebuilder will soon offer Clare Controls as standard in its 14 communities.
Located in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and North Dakota, each home will emit energy efficiency and savings by exceeding minimum state code requirements. The Clare Controls system is one reason why.
Clare Controls as Standard
The scalable automation package will feature Clare’s CLIQ controller, the “brain” of the system, which will provide access and control over applications including several critical areas of lighting. Users can cut down on electricity by scheduling when these lights turn on and off and managing them remotely.
The system will also come with a video surveillance camera at the front door, which will push notifications to the end-user’s web-enabled device when someone approaches.
A smart thermostat that connects to the system will be included in the package as well.
“Safety was our number one goal,” says James Moen, president of Lexar. “To us, the ability to offer a product that assures our customers’ families are safe when arriving home after forgetting to turn on their exterior and entry lights is priceless.”
Lexar’s clients can select home automation upgrades if they wish.
The “Enhanced Entrance Package” includes an automated Schlage or Kwikset front door lock and garage door opener. The “Deluxe Lighting Package” offers whole house lighting systems. The “Video Surveillance Package” has multiple cameras with recording and picture taking technology. Many other upgrades will also be available as individualized options.
The myClareHome service will allow them to create, modify and schedule personalized multi-application Scenes from within the app, without technical expertise or outside assistance.
Clare Controls was chosen for the company’s eagerness to meet Lexar’s expectations and ability to provide technical service. Its builder program is what put Clare over the top, however.
“For instance, Clare brands the homeowners’ app—their control interface—to Lexar. This places our name front-and-center as our customers eagerly show off their innovative new Lexar homes to their friends, thus helping us sell more homes,” says Moen.
The price is right too. Lexar’s safety and comfort features are less than half a percent of the overall project cost. While Lexar builds custom homes that fit luxury lifestyles, Moen didn’t want to exclude other markets. “It was also important that Lexar didn’t force our customers into a large monthly monitoring fee. With Clare, there is no monitoring fee,” he says.
Marketing Made Easy
When it comes to marketing these houses, it’s a no-brainer. Technology is embedded in our daily lives, so why not in the home?
Technology also gives homeowners assurance that they are safe.
“For safety reasons alone, it makes perfect sense to integrate technology into the most expensive and valuable purchase we will make in our lives,” says Moen. “The real-world value of knowing your doors are locked, your garage door is shut or who is at your front door simply by tapping on your Lexar Homes app by Clare Controls is potentially a lifesaving and beneficial feature we simply couldn’t ignore.”
