This week we start shipping the first of the CLIQ modules we discussed as concepts last year. As announced, the CLIQ.host controller makes it easier, quicker, and more affordable for you to install full-featured projects. And the stackable CLIQ.connect expansion module adds I/O so you can size those projects to your customers’ needs, today and tomorrow.
This easy scalability was intended both to allow you to pursue normal CEDIA-style business and to provide easy access to the growing mainstream market, where we believe success is likely to depend on the availability of systems that allow our channel partners to evolve to business models that lean toward volume and recurring revenue. But a funny thing happened during the CLIQ development process: we realized that we could do an even better job for partners heading in that direction.
Accordingly, we’re also now shipping a previously-unannounced CLIQ.lite module. The controller, offered at half the cost of the CLIQ.host, supports all of Clare’s most popular lifestyle applications, including lighting, security integration, climate, and IP CCTV, as well as the multi-room audio and integrated video entertainment capabilities that separate real automation from DIY toys and telco/cableco add-ons.
When a CLIQ.lite customer wants to grow their system beyond the firmware-limited I/O capabilities of their controller (i.e., to add more lighting, IP CCTV, or audio zones), a simple software key unlocks it to full CLIQ.host status.
The CLIQ.lite host is an ideal door-opener for Clare partners forging volume deals (i.e., through the Clare Controls Builder’s Program), where customers might not initially be able to invest in a complete system, and in every situation where initial project configurations will evolve as customers’ needs change and as new applications become available.
