2 MP Turret Camera: See The Difference

The 2 MP Turret Camera is a high-resolution IP camera, an appropriate choice for outdoor applications relying on image detail and/or wide coverage. The turret camera is capable of 2 MP (1920×1080) resolution and features a 2.8 mm Lens and 30 meter enhanced IR LEDs for low-light conditions. The orientation of the IR reduces nearly ALL IR flashback which is inherent in traditional dome cameras.

What if I cannot connect my cameras directly to the NVR PoE ports?

In installations where the cameras cannot be connected to the NVR directly, you can use an aggregation switch and place the cameras on the general network (e.g. not on the subnet created by the onboard PoE switch). When you do this, you will need to manually enter the IP address for each camera on the general network. ONLY CAMERAS ON THE ONBOARD POE SWITCH WILL AUTO-DISCOVER.

What is bit-rate type and what does it do?

The bit-rate type is a common setting in IP cameras.  It configures the camera to utilize either a constant or variable bit rate.  The bit-rate works hand in hand with the frames/second and H.264 quality settings.

When the bit rate is set to constant, the camera bit rate will remain at the specified level whether or not the camera actually needs the prescribed bit rate.  This can cap run-away bandwidth requirements but can be very wasteful when bandwidth is not required.

Variable bit-rate allows the frames/second and H.264 settings to drive the bit-rate setting.  This setting is dangerous as there is no real control over bit-rate and consequently network bandwidth requirements and disk storage requirements.

The max bit-rate setting when used with the variable bit-rate setting solves this problem.  It allows the camera to utilize less bandwidth when it is not needed (variable) and caps it at the max bit-rate setting when the image drives the need.  (night time, motion etc).

ClareVision cameras come preset as follows:  bit-rate type:  variable, max bit-rate:  calculated at 8 frames/sec, medium video quality (H.264), full resolution on the camera.

See the ClareVision technical tools here for more information.

What is the multi-stream feature and where is it used?

All ClareVision Cameras support multiple streams.  There are two configurations in a ClareVision camera:  main stream and sub stream.

The main stream is primarily used by the NVR and web interfaces.  It supports multiple simultaneous connections.

The sub stream is used by ClareHome for remote display of live video.  It can be used when bandwidth is limited as well.

Why is there a mosaic in the preview image?

An image that displays a mosaic or pixelates is almost always due to NVR processing or network bandwidth problems:

a.  NVR or PC CPU is overloaded.  Check the utilization to be sure it is less than 65%

b.  The network bandwidth is less than required.  Check your bandwidth using our technical tools located here.

What is the default IP address, UID and PW for ClareVision Cameras?

The default IP address is:  192.168.1.250

The default UID is:  clareadmin

The default PW is:  secure7
